Brownfield Redevelopment

Redeveloping brownfields to productive use creates new jobs, increases the local tax base, improves the value of adjacent property and mitigates public health and safety concerns. Revitalization allows the reuse of existing infrastructure, utilities, roads and services. It also reduces urban sprawl and preserves open space and farmland.

Technical Assistance Available

WCTCOG Brownfields program can help bring a project to fruition. WCTCOG Brownfield program staff may be able to assist with cleanup plans and cleanups. Applicants must meet all applicable program requirements to be eligible to receive assistance.

Requirements
  • The applicant may be a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation or a local governmental entity. An eligible entity may sponsor a non-eligible entity if the redevelopment is of community benefit.

  • The property owner must provide written consent for the environmental investigation.
