About The Academy

The West Central Texas Law Enforcement Academy strives to provide well-trained peace officers, county corrections officers and communications personnel to meet the diverse demands of law enforcement through rigorous training that is based upon values and respect.

It is our goal to make all TCLEOSE mandated training available to all peace officers, county correction officers and communications personnel in the region by conducting entry-level and in-service training courses to meet the demands of the region, crime trends and compliance with new laws.

Basic Corrections Officer Training

This course is required for all county jailers in Texas. It prepares the student to take the state licensing examination for county jailers. All applicants must meet the minimum requirements for Basic Correction Officer as set forth by TCLEOSE and must be sponsored by a law enforcement agency.
