The West Central
Texas Council of Governments (WCTCOG) is a public entity
made up of associated cities, counties and special
governmental districts. WCTCOG serves 19 counties
over an area of 18,000 square miles. WCTCOG addresses
issues such as regional and municipal planning, economic
and community development, hazard mitigation and
emergency planning, aging services, water use, pollution
control, 9-1-1 services, health education, youth
programs, transit administration and transportation
planning.

WCTCOG can plan, assist local
governments, and deliver public services, but has no
power to tax or to regulate. State law requires the
governing body of regional councils be composed
primarily of local elected officials. Due to adopted
by-laws, the Executive Committee (the governing body of WCTCOG) is comprised
entirely of local elected officials. The Executive Committee meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.
