Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What will happen when I call 1-800-928-2262?
A: If you call
from within the 19 county West Central Texas
Area, you will be put in contact with an
Information and Referral (I&R) specialist who
has access to hundreds of service providers who
have been screened and are eligible to serve
elders and their families and care givers. The
specialists will, whenever possible, provide the
callers with a choice of service options and
also may provide the name and telephone number
of National Resources.
Q: When can I call?
A: Calls will
be answered by West Central Texas Area Agency on
Aging specialists between 8:30 a.m. and Central
Time and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through
Friday. We are closed for lunch. We have an
answering machine and voice mail capability and
will respond as soon as possible.
Q: What can I expect?
A: You can
expect accurate program and service
descriptions, correct telephone numbers, and if
you need it, assistance in connecting to those
who will help. Also, many programs have
information guides online which we can help you
find from our link pages.
Q: Will I be able to receive services
immediately or is there a waiting list for
services?
A: This will
vary. Some programs have waiting lists for
services due to funding limitations, and high
demand. Seniors who are in need of
services are assessed either by phone or in
person, and are then
prioritized for services based on greatest need.
